Social Investments

Social Investments

We value building strong ties with local communities and creating value together. Our social investment programs contribute to many areas, from education and health to environmental projects and infrastructure support.

We carry out long-term social investments to improve the quality of life and support sustainable development in the regions where we operate. We design and implement our projects in close collaboration with local governments, public institutions, NGOs, and communities.

Public Health

We focus on strengthening access to healthcare by supporting local initiatives that directly benefit communities living in surrounding areas. In this context, in 2024, we contributed to acquiring an MRI machine for Develi State Hospital. With the commissioning of the device, the hospital’s diagnostic capacity has significantly increased, and approximately 25,000 people are expected to benefit from this service.

Furthermore, we contribute to the mental and physical development of individuals with autism by meeting the needs of the Develi Accessible Living, Care, Rehabilitation, and Family Counseling Center in terms of play and sports areas. We aim to increase the physical activity of individuals with equipment such as outdoor sports equipment, a sandpit, and table tennis.

We prioritize raising awareness about public health through our local partnerships. In this context, we aimed to increase access to critical information, particularly regarding women’s health, by collaborating with local and regional institutions in Develi. To address the needs of students in rural areas, we brought together 550 students with subject matter experts.

The sessions covered the importance of physical health, hygiene, and balanced nutrition. Students were also given personal care products to support their health.

This initiative not only strengthens access to healthcare services but also represents a significant step towards empowering the next generation of women. The project supports students in accessing the information and resources they need for their long-term success.

Educational Support

We consider contributing to young people’s educational journeys and strengthening equal opportunities as one of the priorities of our social investments.

ERVA (We Exist Through Our Virtues) Project

The ERVA Project, which we implemented in Develi, aims to increase students’ participation in their education and social lives. The project includes sports and art workshops. We particularly support the more active participation of girls in their education. In this way, we contribute to both their individual development and their stronger inclusion in society.

Academic Development Project

The Academic Achievement, Career Planning, Technological and Social Development Project, carried out in collaboration with the Develi District Governor’s Office and the District Directorate of National Education, is a comprehensive initiative that supports both the academic and social development of students.

Infrastructure Investments:

All students in the Develi district were brought together with modernized school libraries; new science laboratories were established, and Teknofest-focused workshops were opened.

Social and Cultural Activities:

Youth festivals, concerts, city tours, art workshops, and book fairs were organized to increase students’ social participation.

Support for Disadvantaged Groups:

Equal opportunities were provided through play therapy rooms, scholarship programs, and guidance counselor training.

Academic Support:

Through LGS and YKS preparation courses, award-winning mock exams, and free educational materials, the average LGS scores of students in Develi increased and reached the Kayseri provincial average.

Tangible Impacts: With the increase in average scores, the number of young people placed in universities has risen. Awards were won at Teknofest, and approximately 200 students achieved success at national and international levels. This project not only increased students’ academic achievement but also contributed to our institutional culture. Our employees supported students through voluntary mentoring programs. Thus, a focus on social benefit and a sense of social belonging within the company were strengthened.

Sustainable Income Opportunity

In order to improve access to water for livestock farming in rural areas, we are conducting feasibility studies with municipalities for boreholes, solar energy systems, and modern watering troughs.

Women’s Empowerment

Launched in 2022, the Women Producers Development Project aims to increase women’s participation in the workforce and their entrepreneurial opportunities in the region. By channeling their skills into production and entrepreneurship, women producers are taking a significant step towards financial independence.

Initiatives like the Women Producers Development Project and the Feed Production Project are not limited to creating short-term benefits; they also lay a solid foundation for the long-term socio-economic development of the region. These efforts are among the most visible and effective examples of Öksüt Mining’s responsible mining approach.

The main objective of the project is to make women entrepreneurs more visible in the local and regional economy, to encourage employment, and to strengthen women’s economic freedom. We believe that women’s participation in working life and entrepreneurial activities is indispensable for a developing economy. This initiative also aims to increase the visibility of practices supporting women’s entrepreneurship by setting a positive example in the region.

Agricultural Development

Another initiative that transformed agriculture in the Develi region was the Feed Production Project.

  • With the implementation of feed production projects, the number of farmers benefiting from the facilities has increased 28-fold
  • Through feed production projects, silage baling and flake feed production facilities provide services to farmers in the Develi district and the surrounding region.
  • Feed production projects have contributed to direct and indirect employment.

Initiatives like the Women Producers Development Project and the Feed Production Project not only provide short-term benefits but also lay a strong foundation for long-term socio-economic development. These efforts constitute the most concrete examples of Öksüt Mining’s responsible mining approach.

As part of our “Respect for the Environment” policy, we focus on using resources more efficiently and reducing waste through innovative recycling initiatives.

In collaboration with the Develi District Governorship, we launched the Zero Waste Training Program for women entrepreneurs. This initiative was implemented in line with our vision of contributing to a sustainable future. The program brought together 25 women entrepreneurs from Develi, raising awareness and providing practical information on adopting a zero-waste approach in daily life and business practices.

Thanks to the program, environmental awareness among local women entrepreneurs increased, and they were equipped with actionable information that will facilitate the integration of sustainability into their business models and personal lives.

Such initiatives once again demonstrate Öksüt Madencilik’s commitment to environmental responsibility and community development. They also clearly show that collaborations can create lasting and positive impacts in the long term.
