Our Mine

Öksüt Gold Mine

Öksüt Gold Mine is a gold mining operation wholly owned and operated by Centerra Gold Inc.

Our mine site is located in the Central Anatolia Region, within the boundaries of the Develi district of Kayseri, approximately 290 km from Ankara and 45 km from the city center of Kayseri. We conduct our operations in two separate open pits named Keltepe and Güneytepe.

We carry out our production processes using open pit mining and heap leaching methods. After bringing the ore extracted from our open pits to the appropriate size, we process it using the heap leaching method and obtain doré gold through carbon columns.

We are also proud to be the first mining project in Turkey to receive financial support from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

Production Method

ORE IS EXTRACTED FROM OPEN PITS USING DRILLING AND BLASTING METHODS.

Jaw and cone crushers break the material into the desired particle size.

The crushed ore base is spread over the pile leach area, which has a clay and geomembrane-lined impermeable floor. A chemical leaching process is applied to the ore spread over the pile leach area.

Gold that transitions to the liquid phase through chemical dissolution is stored in a charged solution tank. FROM THIS TANK, IT IS SENT TO CIC TANKS FOR CARBON ADSORPTION. CARBON LOADED WITH GOLD GOES TO THE SCRAPING COLUMN AFTER A SERIES OF PROCESSES, WHERE GOLD AND CARBON ARE SEPARATED FROM EACH OTHER.

Gold particles separated from carbon are isolated from other impurities in an electrolytic cell and collected as sludge sediment. THIS SLUDGE IS DRIED AND REFINED IN A MELTING FURNACE WITH MELTING AGENTS TO OBTAIN GOLD WITH 99.99% PURITY.

AFTER THE LAST ORE FROM THE SHAFT IS PROCESSED, THE MINING OPERATION IS GRADUALLY CLOSED. After all activities have ceased, rehabilitation work is carried out in the area where the mines and the tailings pond are located.
