As the operating company of Canada-based Centerra Gold Inc. in Turkey, we operate in the Develi district of Kayseri. We aim to operate the economic resources discovered in our country with a responsible, safe, and sustainable approach; we adopt a mining approach that considers environmental, social, and economic impacts.
2007
The Discovery of Öksüt Has Begun
In 2007, surface studies conducted by geologists first drew attention to mineralization in the region, marking an important beginning for the discovery of the Öksüt field. The geology team at Stratex International PLC revealed gold mineralization with economic potential in the region during their research in Kayseri.
In 2008, the first drilling was carried out in the area defined as the “Güneytepe mineralization.” This work paved the way for detailed research in 2009 on the Keltepe field, which was understood to have greater potential.
2015
In 2015, we completed the environmental compliance processes and obtained Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) approval. That same year, we became the first mining project in Turkey supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
2018
In 2018, following the completion of all necessary permits and the conclusion of feasibility and engineering studies, construction activities officially commenced at the Öksüt site.
2021
In 2021, we obtained ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System and ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management System certifications, bringing our environmental and occupational safety practices into compliance with international standards. These certifications document that our operations are conducted in accordance with sustainability and occupational health and safety requirements.
